When you start a small business, it is one of your main goal to make that business grow. It is only through growth that your business can survive and make it through the first couple of years. Start building your email list. Every time you meet someone or talk to someone on the phone you should make sure and get their email. If you have a website or plan on creating one, make sure you include an area for entering the viewers email. Gathering emails will be an ongoing process because you can never have too many. Once you have gathered some addresses on your list, you can start your email campaigns. You don’t have to have a lot of addresses to start mailing, just start doing it, if anything it will give you practice for when you do have a lot of addresses.
Talk to people either on the phone or in person. Take some time out of each day to pick up the phone and call to people. It’s amazing what you can find out about your own business and how to make it better by talking to people. Make it part of your schedule to have lunch with a client now and then.
Don’t forget about quality. It may cost more or take more time but to be the best, you must maintain a standard that makes you the best. You may not believe it, but people will notice the difference between something done well and something done just to make money. Quality insures that your reputation will grow in a good way.
